2025's Big Challenge!

On Wednesday, January 29th 2025,  teams from 13 Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire schools  gathered at Stoke Mandeville Stadium to compete for the prestigious Ultimate Challenge Cup. With more schools joining the 2025 event, the competition was fiercer than ever!

Last year, Sir Thomas Fremantle School claimed the trophy, and Buckinghamshire schools outperformed those from Milton Keynes. This year the honours, the trophy and a cheque for £1,000 went to Aylesbury UTC and, once again, Buckinghamshire schools triumphed. Next year Milton Keynes schools will be fighting back!

The Big Challenge is a series of tests of team work, initiative and problem solving across 13 challenge stations. All of the teams performed with great ingenuity and the room was filled with shouts of encouragement and laughter.

The Big Challenge was launched in 2024 as a celebration of the achievements of young people across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The event brought together students, teachers and community leaders for a day of friendly competition, awards and insightful discussions and now in year 2, brought even more people together.

In addition to the thrilling competition, individual awards such as the Outstanding Achievement Award and Exceptional Leadership Award will recognise students who exemplify excellence and leadership. 

The many guests including HM Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, the High Sherriff of Buckinghamshire, the Chair of Buckinghamshire Council, Mayors of Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and High Wycombe and our sponsors NHBC and centre:mk enjoyed seeing the fun activities, and most importantly, the celebration of the incredible potential within our local young people.
