Josh talks about how The Inspiration Programme has helped him overcome anxiety when speaking in front of big groups, and given him the confidence to speak publicly:
“The main thing that the Inspiration Programme has given me is a lot more confidence, and a lot more like power in speaking publicly. “
“Before this I got very anxious about speaking in front of big crowds. Everybody is going to stumble on their words, and its definitely helped me over the period we have had.”
“The people they get in are nice, they’re polite, they’ve had their experience, they’ve done their research in the field, they know what they are talking about. So they’ll give you the skills and help you progress.”
“There was a very good ratio of going outside the college and staying inside the college. It’s obviously given us all a lot of knowledge on the working world.”
“I’ve been nominated more and more to go up and speak for my groups and things like that. For example, the other day we did Dragon’s Den. I was the main speaker for that and I had to evaluate all four groups. It was like a good 10-15 minutes of speaking in front of 20 people, so I was actually surprised that I could do that.”
What is The Inspiration Programme?
The Inspiration Programme broadens the horizons, thinking and experience of young people. It fills gaps in existing provision by creating opportunities for young people, providing unique and unprecedented access to Business, Police and Criminal Justice, Health & Wellbeing, Arts & Culture, and Community & Environment
The programme supports young people to have greater belief in their own abilities by becoming more skilled problem-solvers, better team-workers and stronger communicators.
The Inspiration Programme is an Action4Youth initiative delivered in schools and colleges across Buckinghamshire with students in year groups, from year 10 to year 13.
