Action4Youth unveil its Mobiloo at Caldecotte Xperience

Action4Youth continue to knock down boundaries for young people with disabilities. The Mobiloo enables anyone, whatever the extent of their physical condition, to use the changing facilities after taking part in activities at our Caldecotte Xperience centre.

The Mobiloo is a unique new facility enabling all disabled children and adults to use the toilet and/or be changed with dignity and respect when they wish to attend activities across centre.

The Mobiloo features include:

  • A ceiling electric track hoist controlled electronically to transfer young people around the Mobiloo onto the changing bed or toilet.
  • A full-sized changing bed which is height adjustable, waterproof and has the option for a low gradient tilt.
  • Toilet with grab rails which can be accessed with the ceiling track host
  • Warm powerful shower which can be used on the changing bed as well as standing or sitting.

Disabled people are often excluded due to the lack of adequate facilities at events and centres. The Mobiloo brings dignity and underlines Action4Youth’s fundamental belief that disabled people should be able to participate in all areas of life.

Caldecotte Xperience centre already offers the largest range of activities in the region, from archery to zorbing, many of which are not normally accessible to young people with additional needs. Because Action4Youth has some of the best specialist and adapted equipment at its Caldecotte Xperience it is able to offer training and fully certificated courses in many activities, including climbing, sailing, paddling and powerboating.

This outstanding provision alongside the Mobiloo supports Action4Youth’s aim to give all young people the opportunity to challenge themselves, work with others and discover new skills and experiences that help them to grow in confidence and achieve success.
