In today’s fast-paced world, the pressures and challenges that young people face are greater than ever before. The transition from childhood to adolescence and then into adulthood can be a turbulent journey, often accompanied by emotional turmoil, stress, and uncertainty. Counselling plays a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people. In celebration of World Mental Health Day, Tuesday 10th October 2023 we wanted to share the benefits that young people can gain from our counselling services. From improving coping skills to fostering self-awareness, counselling can offer a lifeline to the young people we work with.
Here at Action4Youth, we understand that the journey through adolescence and young adulthood can be a rollercoaster ride! We offer counselling at The Junction, our youth club in High Wycombe. The counselling services are conducted in a safe and confidential environment for young people to share their feelings in a friendly atmosphere without feeling judged.
Counselling at The Junction provides numerous benefits;
🌈 A Safe and Confidential Space: We offer a safe haven where young individuals can openly express their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment.
🚀 Navigating Life’s Challenges: Life can throw us curveballs, and it’s not always easy to handle them on our own. Counselling provides you with a dedicated space and time to work through these challenges, helping you to regain your balance and wellbeing.
🧐 Gaining Clarity and Perspective: Sometimes, we get so caught up in our thoughts and emotions that it’s hard to see the bigger picture. Counselling can offer you a fresh perspective on problems and issues, helping you gain clarity and make informed decisions.
💪 Promoting Resilience and Confidence: Life’s challenges can be opportunities for growth. Through counselling, you’ll not only develop resilience but also boost your motivation and confidence, empowering you to face future challenges with a sense of strength.
🤗 Enhancing Relationships: Healthy relationships are vital for our wellbeing. Counselling can provide you with the tools and insights needed to improve and maintain your relationships with friends, family, and loved ones.
🌟 Unleash Your True Potential: Often, we underestimate our abilities and potential. Counselling can help you tap into your true potential, guiding you towards personal growth and self-discovery.
Amy* attends counselling and believes that it has helped her deal with her anxiety and some challenges she is currently experiencing. Amy says:
“I think that counselling has been really good and has helped me a lot in lots of things such as my communication with others and my contribution with things such as school or even just talking to people. I have also gained a lot more support and feel that counselling is a safe space for me to express my feelings and just to tell someone how I feel honestly without it causing problems or drama in my school/ social life. Because of all this support I have also gained more confidence in myself and I am more confident than I used to be. I enjoy counselling as its helped calm my anxiety and stress as I have been dealing with a lot and counselling has helped.”
We offer between 6-18 sessions at The Junction to young people aged 12-18 and up to 25 for SEND. Our service is free of charge, and we also offer drop-ins to those who prefer to have a one-off session/chat.
